The Hillside just behind the Clachaig Inn, was the sight for the location of Hagrid’s Hut in the Harry Potter films. With the hut created and part of the Hogwarts bridge built onto the hillside, there was a security detail placed to man the set and protect the huge pumkins from being pinched.

We drive via Fort William to Glenfinannan Viaduct, made famous in Harry Potter as re-creating the Hogwarts Express. We’ll time it so the train passes by (April to October) so you can get photos.

Eilean na Moine Island was filmed in Loch Eilt as the location of Dumbledore’s burial tomb and digitally placed in Loch Arkaig on film.

From April to October you can book to ride on the Jacobite Steam Train (AKA Hogwarts Express) and on this tour there is the option to travel back from Mallaig to Fort William onboard. Alistair will then meet you at Fort William station before we carry on our tour.

Loch Ness has been filmed in many productions over the years and was the location for the film of the same name shot in 1996 with Ted Danson and Joley Richardson. The later film Water Horse was also partly filmed at Loch Ness.

The famous standing stones at Craig na Dun in the TV series Outlander were re-created on a farm in Kinloch Rannoch and don’t exist in real life, however the Clava Cairns near Culloden Battlefield has a real cleft standing stone resemblant to the one in the book.

The scene of the famous battle holds an eerie echo of its bloody past where you can also visit the Clan Fraser grave marker.
